This is so true 🙂

The Christmas Concert is next week!

Here’s the rehearsal schedule for the day of the concert (Thursday 14th December). Please make a note of when you are needed and make sure you have your instrument/music in school with you on that day. The rehearsals will take place in the hall.

Your teachers will know why you are absent from lessons that day, but it is your responsibility to find out what you missed and catch up.

Usual lunch rehearsals will take place up until the concert.

Here are some things you need to know about the concert itself:

  • The concert is at 6.30pm in the Hall. It will be finished by 9pm.
  • You need to wear all black. Not blue, not brown, not patterned, and no big logos. If you want to wear a bit of tinsel etc. on yourself or on your instrument, go for it.
  • Tickets are £5 on the door for adults or pay via ParentPay. Under 18s and senior citizens are free.
  • The music classrooms will be available for coats, instrument cases etc. Please arrive in enough time to warm up and get organised.
  • When the concert is in progress, you must not hang out in the classrooms or corridors. You need to be in the Hall being a supportive, considerate, appreciative member of the audience who shows awareness of performance etiquette which includes not moving around or making a noise during the music.
  • Any questions, please ask.

All music clubs will start up again after the Christmas holiday.

Good luck to our students who have their Trotman auditions this week.

Musical Theatre fans – SIX is coming to the Churchill Theatre in Bromley in July 2024

The crowning glory of Broadway, the West End and beyond, the international smash hit musical SIX makes its royal return to Bromley, following its previous sell-out success!

Winner of 26 major international awards including the Tony Award for ‘Best Original Score’ and ‘Best Costume Design’, double winner of the Whatsonstage Award for ‘Best West End Show’ and a Gold-Disk winning album, this sell-out Tudor take-off has ‘an incredibly strong and powerful message’ (The Australian) and is ‘pure entertainment’ (New York Times).

From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the six wives of Henry VIII take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power. These Queens may have green sleeves but their lipstick is rebellious red.

Think you know the rhyme, think again…

Divorced. Beheaded. LIVE!

Open Day

A big thank you to Jazz Band and our Music Leaders for being so fab at Open Day last weekend.

MusicFest in is the first week back after the half term holiday!

Sign up for MusicFest here

If you are performing…

  • You will be emailed in the week of MusicFest with a draft programme
  • You do NOT need to wear school uniform – you can wear whatever you like as long as it’s suitable for a performance at school.
  • Be in the audience being a lovely supportive audience member for other performers
  • At the end, take a bow and SMILE to acknowledge your applause

If you are a Music Leader…

  • Please speak to Miss Werry to find out when you need to arrive and what you will need to do.
  • We need people to be on the door and run the refreshments

If you would like to volunteer to be on the Tech Team…

  • Please speak to Mr Brett to find out more.
  • During MusicFest itself you need to be proactive at the front of the hall as well as at the back, helping people with mics and mic stands – whatever each performer needs

If you are coming to be in the audience…

  • Remember good audience etiquette, and be aware that you need to respond in different ways to different types of music – you may be clapping or joining in if a performer invites you to, but for some pieces (especially classical ones, or very soft ones) you might need to be completely silent and completely still.
  • No moving about during items

At an orchestral concert, you’ll hear an ‘A’ before you hear anything else because it’s the note that the rest of the musicians tune to. But where did this tradition come from and why is it still around?
